An educative tale.

One day some boys were playing near by a small pond. Someone among them suddenly saw some frogs were playing in the pond also. He said to others 'come on boys , let us we make a new game and the game is stone throwing. Who can touch the more frogs by stone throwing he will be won and got a nice prize. Everybody became agree with him and started to throwing stone. As a result, some frogs fall in death. Then one oldest frog rising it's head above the water and requested to the boys to stop their game. The frog said to them"what is play for you that is the cause for our death". Listening this request, the boys could understand their mistake and stopped playing the game.

Why the maximum people of Bangladesh are not able to speak & understand English as a language?

English is a very important language in this present time of the world. The importance of this language is increasing day by day.But it is a matter of regret, the maximum number of people of Bangladesh mainly the students can not speak and understand English as a foreign language. But why this condition is going on? Sometimes I think about it and become anxious. Who are responsible for this situation?

After liberation war of 1971 and getting freedom, Bangladesh has been emerged as a new nation in the world. After that, there are six education commission policies are taken by the education ministry from the first education commission by Dr. Kudrot-e-Khuda in 1972 to the sixth education commission by professor Taluckder Moniruzzaman Mia in 2003. But what the result we got? A student from primary level to higher secondary school level studies about 12 years. But after passing this long time, he or she could not able to speak and understand English properly. Although the student learn about English from primary to H.s.c level.

On the other hand, the students of India have to learn the English from class six and after that when they pass the H.s.c level, they could achieve all the qualities about English and speaks frequently. So, we can make a comparison between the education system of Bangladesh & India. Thus we can find out easily the main distinction of education system of these two countries.

I think that the basic problem is in our English syllabus both in the school and college level. And the other problem is in the teacher side. The eminent professor of Bangladesh, Abu Syed Choudhory has said that 'In the ancient time, the structure of educational institution was raw condition but the teachers were learned, on the other hand, at present situation the structure of educational institution is so strong, but the teachers are very much dull or raw.' Obviously I think it is a appropriate comment.

So, the time is arrived now to think about how we can overcome from this condition. I hope the authorities who are related with this educational affairs, will take the initiatives as soon as possible.
